Authenticity In Music. Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds.
I wonder why I’ve been listening to the new Nick Cave album so much recently? It struck me today, it’s because it’s music that only a man of age 55 (Nick Cave’s age) could make! This is no negative thing, no way. This album speaks in a quiet, humble voice, that it’s possible to make better music at age 55 than when at age 25. It’s a rare thing. Music of humility. It even kinda makes you look more favorably towards older years, more respectful. The songs are unassuming, beautifully constructed, & of course blend spirituality & dirty old man tendencies in a way only Nick Cave can.

Marty Thau, of Red Star Records fame, manager of New York Dolls, producer of Suicide’s classic self-titled album, Blondie, etc, who is currently working on his memoir, is going to release Laker’s “David Sylvian”, the homage to David Sylvian, an English singer-songwriter & musician who came to prominence in the late 1970s as the lead vocalist & main songwriter in the group Japan, on his label!
